We understand that plans change. Buslane's cancellation policy is designed to be fair to both you and the bus operators in our network. Below you will find everything you need to know about cancelling a charter bus reservation.
Cancellation Windows
Your refund amount depends on when you cancel relative to your scheduled trip date:
- 30+ days before the trip: Full refund minus a $50 processing fee
- 15-29 days before the trip: 75% refund of the total booking amount
- 7-14 days before the trip: 50% refund of the total booking amount
- Less than 7 days before the trip: No refund available
These windows apply to the original trip date. If you have already modified your trip date, the cancellation window is based on whichever date comes first -- the original or the modified date.
How to Request a Cancellation
You can cancel your booking in one of three ways:
- Online: Log into your Buslane account, go to your trip details, and click "Cancel Booking." You will see your refund amount before confirming.
- Email: Send a cancellation request to support@buslane.com with your booking confirmation number. Our team will process the request within one business day.
- Phone: Call us at (206) 487-1994 during business hours (Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 6 PM PT). A team member can process the cancellation immediately.
Refund Timeline
Once your cancellation is confirmed, refunds are processed as follows:
- Credit card payments: Refund appears on your statement within 5-10 business days
- ACH/bank transfer payments: Refund deposited within 7-14 business days
- Invoice payments: A credit memo is issued and any refund is processed within 14 business days
You will receive an email confirmation when your cancellation is processed and another notification when the refund is initiated.
Special Circumstances
If you need to cancel due to severe weather, a natural disaster, or a government-issued travel restriction that directly affects your route, please contact us. We evaluate force majeure situations on a case-by-case basis and can often offer a full refund or free rebooking outside of the standard cancellation windows.
Operator Cancellations
In rare cases, a bus operator may need to cancel due to a mechanical issue or scheduling conflict. If this happens, Buslane will either find a replacement vehicle at no additional cost or issue a full refund. We notify you as soon as possible and work to minimize any disruption to your plans.
